William Lazard Leonard Jr., affectionately known as “Uncle June”, 98 years old, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, drifted into the arms of Jesus on Friday January 19th 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
His services will be held as follows on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow: visitation for the immediate family will be from 8:30 to 9 AM; visitation for the general public will be from 9 to 10 AM; and mass will be held at 10 AM with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. William is survived by his daughters Linda Leonard Esponge (EJ) and Anita Leonard, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, and his loving brother Steven Leonard and his loving sister in law Joyce Williams Leonard.
Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his step daughter Glenda Rousse (Glen), his step granddaughter Dawn, his step great grandchildren, Bryan Jr. and Stacie. He was also preceded by his parents William M. Leonard Sr. and Anita Broussard and his brothers, Leander “Buck” and Dr. James Leonard. His sisters, Neva Jambon (Joe), Angelique Canalizo (Carlos), and Vergis Haley (Roy) preceded him as well. He was also preceded by his sister in law, Vergie C. Leonard and his beloved Doicy Blanchard.
Junior retired from Texaco after over 60 years and then started his own landscaping business that he ran for over 25 years. There was nothing he enjoyed more than dancing and he was proud of his work ethic.
His family would like to thank Dr. Eddie Smith and Rachel from his office, his wonderful sitters Vicki, Teena, Antoinette, Verma, and especially Harriet Terrebonne. Thanks also go to his loyal friend and neighbor Dean Boudreaux.
