Walter Wayne Shafer, 92, a native of Olney, Illinois, and longtime resident of Houma, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017.
According to his wishes, no services will be held.
Walter is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eva Elkins Shafer; daughter, Linda K. Daigle; 2 grandsons, Scott W. Daigle and wife, Meaghan, and Darren J. Daigle; and sister, Nita Burkett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Kagy Shafer; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Walter retired from Texaco/Chevron after 32 years, and he served in the South Pacific during World War II in the United States Marine Corps.
