Virginia "Vee" Martin Candies, 89, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Baton Rouge, died on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at 2:45pm.
Visitation will be on Saturday November 4, 2017 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church from 10:00 am until funeral time. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Vee is survived by her daughter; Charlene C. (Donald) Fontenot; two sons, Curtiss P. (Lisa) Candies and Mark T. (Lori) Candies; one brother, Harry Martin; one sister, Barbara M. Shortess; 11 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Bennie" Candies; daughter, Cecilia A. Candies; parents, Loveless Sr. and Mathilda Babin Martin; two sisters, Maxie M. Chauvin and Marion M. Dufrene and four brothers, Malcolm, Loveless Jr., Ray and Thomes (TJ) Martin.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the following: Dr. Laura Falcon, Dr. Michael Castine, the Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Outpatient Infusion Center – BRG at Bluebonnet and St. Joseph Hospice along with their staffs for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
