Verlis Chauvin Dufrene, 95, a native of Lockport and a resident of Bayou Gauche, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Jackson (Bonnie) Dufrene, Joseph (Denise) Dufrene; daughters, Sallie (Luther) Matherne, Andrea (Chad) Dufrene Adams, Stephanie (Barry) Roberts; daughter-in-law, Vivian Dufrene; 58 grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Ruby Chauvin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert John Dufrene; parents, Sestive and Adise Fayette Chauvin; son, Merlin Dufrene; brothers, Morris, Leonard, Theodore, Clarville, Wilson, Jackson, Johnny Chauvin and sisters, Addie Dufrene and Leona Rodriguez.
Verlis enjoyed crocheting, sewing and baking.
