Venice F. Dufrene, 76, a native of Raceland and a resident of Houma, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and from 9 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Raceland. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at St. Mary with burial to follow at Holy Savior cemetery in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife, Helen V. Dufrene; former wife, Deanna Knight; 3 sons, Kelly Dufrene (Penny), Kendall Dufrene (Karen), Kerby Dufrene (Jessica); 3 daughters, Nadine Dyer (Mark), Nanette Hebert (Glynn), Natalie Lanier (Walt); 3 brothers, Gerald, Fred, and Hank Dufrene; 2 sisters, Gloria Clement and Marilyn Ficco; 17 grandchildren, Kacy, Mark, Myles, Mandy, Blane, Shane, Chris, Jonathan, Timothy, Cortney, Bret, Tori, Ellie, Felix, William, Kirsten, Alaina; 2 great-grandchildren, MaeAnna and LeeAnna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Venice Dufrene Sr. and Octavie Dufrene and son, Kevin Dufrene.
He served in the Air Force. He was a hard worker who helped anyone in need. He was a blood donor and an organ donor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and anyone who knew him.
