Velma Parks Dufrene, 93, a native of Raceland, former resident of Paradis and Des Allemands, and resident of Kentwood, died at 5:42 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Des Allemands Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche.
She is survived by two sons, Bob (Linda) Dufrene and Elmond (Sally) Dufrene Jr.; daughters, Barbara Stanley and Eunice (Ray) Borland; brothers, Venis, Raymond, Terry and Gary Parks; sister, Ethel Savoie; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmond Dufrene Sr.; parents, Ernest and Edna Folse Parks; sons-in-law, George Stanley and George Gunn; brother, Wilmer Parks; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
