Thomas “Tommy” John Plaisance, 70, a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Cut Off, passed away November 25, 2021 while vacationing with family in Belize.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 9:30 am until funeral time at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, in Larose. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Tommy is survived by his loving partner, Rhonda Plaisance; brothers, Phillip Plaisance (Mary) and Charles Plaisance (Charlotte); sister, Melissa Plaisance Fanguy (Wade); sister-in-law, Jaqueline Plaisance Hassell; Godchild, Jules Fanguy and numerous nieces and nephews. Although Tommy had no biological children of his own, he was a beloved father figure to Rhonda’s children as well as a grandfather to her grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Hurby Paul Plaisance, Sr. and Aline Anselmi Plaisance; brother, Hurby Plaisance, Jr.; sister, Margaret Plaisance Blaum and brother-in-law, Conrad Blaum.
Tommy had a passion for sports. He was an all-state football player, and played collegiately at Northwestern State University. He was the color commentator for South Lafourche High School sports for many years. He was a retired commercial fisherman, and an employee of State Bank & Trust Company. He is loved and will be missed by many.
