Therese Babin Bourgeois, 91, a native of Raceland, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Gretna at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Hilary Church in Mathews. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at the church, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland.
She is survived by her children, Irwin Bourgeois, Rosella B. Bernard, Myra B. Badeaux, Jason and Terry Bourgeois; daughters-in-law, Gaynell, Julie, Linda and Kathy Bourgeois; her grandchildren, Laura Siebert, Don Bernard II, Lynn St. Blanc, Charlotte Hebert, Chantelle Parks, Nathan Bourgeois Jr. and Marcel Bourgeois, Nicole and Suzanne Bernard, Therese, Dwayne, Jean-Paul, Andre’, Justin, J.P., and Jessica Bourgeois; her great-grandchildren, Meagan, Kayla, Corey, Alyssa, Jayden, Paul, Joy, Tori, Tre’, Owen, Rianna, Ashley, Ashleigh, Devin, Matthew, Brandi, Tyler, Colby, Petyon, Nathan III, Hannah, Jimi, Xander, Celia, Luke and Logan; her great-great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Cole; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Bourgeois; her parents, Melous and Lucie Verdin Babin; one son, Nathan Bourgeois; one grandson, Jacob Bourgeois; five brothers, Felician, Joseph, Dennis, Theodore and Eddie Babin; seven sisters, Louise Babin, Aglia Zeringue, Ellida Breaux, Meloie Hebert, Clothilde Guidry, Alice Boudreaux and Marie Tabor; her son-in-law, Don Bernard; and one great-grandson, Brandon Ray Bernard.
Therese was a parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 349. She will be fondly remembered by many as a most talented seamstress.
