Thelma D. Lafont, a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Galliano, was born on Feb. 2, 1923 and died on June 8, 2012.
Visitation will be held on June 11, 2012, from 9 am. to 11 am. at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor followed by a mass at 11 am. at the church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Nadine Pregeant and husband Clyde Jr., Leverna Alford and husband Gerhort, and Tanya Chaisson and husband Eric, brothers, Wallace Duet Jr., Kenneth Duet, Hieman "Torpedo" Duet, and Daniel Duet, and grandchildren, Bryan Pregeant and wife Marie, Brad Pregeant and wife Rockelle, Joshua Ledet and partner Robbie Boquet, Laura Gardner and husband Paul, Erica Chaisson and Gerhort M. Alford, and great-grandchildren, Breanne, Brad Jr., Brock, and Brook Pregeant, and Jillian Gardner, and great-great-grandchildren, Knox Pregeant.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Theo B. Lafont, parents, Wallace and Flayia Duet, sisters, Annette Lee and Delta Callais, and grandchildren, Justin and Johnathon Alford.
Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed playing rummy-o and visiting with friends and relatives. She was a member of T.O.P.S.
