Terry Paul Bourgeois, 60, a native and resident of Raceland passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015.

Visitation will be held at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland on Monday March 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with a private burial at a later date.

Terry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy B. Bourgeois; his son, J.P. Bourgeois; and his daughter, Jessie Bourgeois. He is also survived by his brothers, Irwin Bourgeois and Jason Bourgeois; his sisters, Rosella B. Bernard and Myra B. Badeaux; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Therese Babin Bourgeois; his brother, Nathan Joseph Bourgeois; and his nephew and godson Jacob Paul Bourgeois.

A member and past president of St. Hilary of Poitiers Pastoral Council, he also served in other facets of the church's ministries such as Youth Ministry and CCD for many years.

In addition to serving on the Clinical Faculty of Fletcher Community College and South Central LA Technical College, he was also a member of the Fletcher Community Collage Advisory Board.

He was a member and past president of the Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care. He was recently honored with the 2015 Pioneer Award by the Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care in recognition of his instrumental role in the development and growth of both the Bayou Chapter and the state organization over the last 30 years.

He touched many lives during his 42 –year career as a respiratory therapist. He was employed at Ochsner/St. Anne General Hospital for 35 years where he served as a respiratory therapist and, later, Director of Cardiopulmonary Care. He was named Ochsner Health System Clinical Management Leader of the year in 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Relay for Life or The American Cancer Society.
