Shirley Ann Smith Bergeron

December 28, 1935 — May 5, 2016

Shirley Ann Smith Bergeron, a native of Crowley and resident of Houma, passed away Thursday, May 05, 2016 at the age of 80.
Visitation will be held from 9 AM until service time on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Shirley was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a bookkeeper for A&P Supermarket for over 20 years. She served as Commissioner-in-Charge of the election polls at Village East Elementary School for many years. She loved the outdoors and was gifted with a green thumb; it was well known that if a plant needed to be brought back to life, Shirley could do it. She was also an excellent cook, who loved her family dearly and enjoyed spoiling them with her Sunday meals and holiday feasts. As a true sports fan, she enjoyed watching sports with her best friend, her husband, Mel and could tell you the stats for each player.
To cherish her memories, she leaves behind: her husband and best friend of 45 loving years, Mel Bergeron; one son, Troy Bergeron and wife, Joy; three daughters, Toni Hutchinson and husband, Gary, Angel Leedy and husband, Billy, and Kelly Bergeron; one sister, Charlene Begnaud and husband, Allen; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Durocher and husband, Zach, Sean, Faith, Zachary, Brooke, Alexis and Alyssa; and three great-grandchildren, Brice, Eli, and Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James "Toby" and Edia Smith, and brother, Danny Smith.
Falgout Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
