Shirley M. Chouest, 98, a native of Golden Meadow, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church on Friday, May 17th from 9 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her children, Danny Chouest (Gail), Menton “Bobby” Chouest III (Linda), Loretto Williams (Stewart); 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Menton A. Chouest Jr.; parents, Clovis and Veleda Melancon; siblings, Alton, Stanley, Joseph, Abel “Blue” Melancon, Annie Dufrene, Regina Hutchinson, Odia Sampey, Thelma Boffone, Leah Trosclair, Velma Volpi and Etta Melancon.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Broadway, Hope Hospice and her caretaker, Stella Hebert, for their care and compassion.
