She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 61 1/2 years, Linus J. Blanchard of Houma; her daughter, Noricia Marie Young and husband, Jude, of Patterson; her son, Reese Blanchard of Houma; her son Kenneth Blanchard and wife, Christine, of Houma; and her daughter, Vickie Blanchard and husband, Gary, of Patterson; nine grandchildren, Betty Jo Thomas, Laura Young, Michael Turner, Evan Blanchard, Daniel Turner, Yvonne Blanchard, Jennifer Turner Robinson, James Turner and Rachel Turner; three great-grandchildren, Megan Romero, Keaden Thomas and Madison Blanchard; one brother, Linwood Neal; and six sisters, Gladys Porter, Alice Fanguy, Thelma Bergeron, Helen Roddy, Anna Mae Dupre and Earline Roger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clairville and Noricia Voisin Neal; four brothers, Edward, Edgar, Allen, and Willard Neal; and six sisters, Agnolia Blanchard, Lucricia Gautreaux, Lillian Redmond, Loricia, Viola, and baby Neal.

She loved and was known for her love to others, her cooking, sewing, embroidering and her many crafts such as quilting and crocheting which she won many awards and blue ribbons. She was generous willing to give a pair of crocheted slippers and baby booties to many who knew her. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be kept warm by her hand-sewn quilts she made for each one of them.

She was a sitter for the elderly for many years. She owned a grocery store in Grand Caillou in her early married years and saved money to move to Houma.

She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for 46 years along with her husband, Linus, visited others especially other elderly ones to give them spiritual encouragement. She was well loved by her spiritual brothers and sisters receiving encouragement in return from them.

Shirley and Linus were very fine examples to everyone of how they cared for each other in show true love.

Shirley was loved tremendously by her family and friends and she will never be forgotten.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
