Sherry Candies Heurtin, 75, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died at 3:24 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Christen Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Jan Thompson and husband, Jeff, and Candy Ford and husband, Craig; honorary daughter, Kathryn Fambrough; one brother, Tommy Candies; one sister, Jackie Loupe; four grandchildren, Wendy Chauvin, Jimmy Thompson, Chris Thompson and Billy Thompson; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Heurtin; her parents, Gus and Beulah Frickey Candies; and one brother, Glenn Candies.
She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Charles Parish Retired Teachers Association. She was an educator and principal in St. Charles Parish Public Schools for 33 years.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
