Ruth Luke Deroche, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 18, 2021. She was a native of Little Caillou and a resident of Bayou Blue.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 and from 8:00 am until 10:30 am on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Bayou Blue with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Kenneth M. Deroche, Jerry D. Deroche (Odile), Daniel D. Deroche (Annette); daughters, Tina Ellender (Edward), Mary Ellen Naquin (Mark); grandchildren, Rebecca, Kyle, Brandy, Linda, Billy, James, Danielle. Lera, Adam, Crystal, Jessie, Amanda, Mathew and Luke and many great grandchildren; brother, Rudy Luke (Rebelee); sister-on-law, Marie Luke and sister-in-law, Betty Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lera L. Deroche and her second husband, Eugene Naquin; parents, Stella Fanguy Luke and Albert Luke Sr.; sister, Dorothy Robichaux (Bruce); brothers, Ray Luke, Albert Luke Jr. (Lois), Howard Luke (Bobbie) and Roland Luke; nephews, Albert Luke III and Bruce Robichaux; nieces, Debbie Falgout and Lisa Calahan.
Ruth was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She never met a stranger and found something good in everyone. She was a strong member of St. Louis Catholic Church community. She was an active member of VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was on the board of directors of Lafourche Council on Aging. She was the last charter member of the Bayou Blue Senior Citizens (Andrew Johnson Center), where she was President of board for many years.
