Rosalie Chauvin Knobloch

September 25, 1939 — January 1, 2025

Raceland

Rosalie Ann Chauvin Knobloch, 85, died unexpectedly on January 1, 2025, while visiting family in Keene, New Hampshire. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church (333 Twin Oaks Drive, Raceland, LA 70394). A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with internment following at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery.

Born on September 25, 1939, “Rosie” was a native of Lockport, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of the St. Charles Community. She graduated from Lockport High School in 1957 and Nicholls State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and later with a Master of Library Science.

Committed to education, she worked for over thirty years in the Lafourche Parish School System, mostly at St. Charles Elementary. Initially a third-grade teacher, she found her true calling as a librarian. After retiring from her full-time work, she continued as a substitute teacher in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes.

Rosalie participated in a number of school-related organizations wherever her children were enrolled. She was a member of the Nicholls State University Colonels Club and its Alumni Association. She was very involved in local prayer groups, TOPS, and in the Raceland American Legion Post 349 Ladies Auxiliary. As an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Rosie volunteered as a lector, eucharistic minister, catechist, with the Ladies Altar Society, and she also assisted in the church’s office.

In the 1990s, Rosie opened “Rosie’s Teachers Aids and Gifts” in Raceland for a short time.

Rosalie is survived by her three children: Lori Knobloch (Cindy); Michael Knobloch (Bonnie); and Timothy Knobloch (Margaret); her two grandchildren, Claiborne and Ella Grace Knobloch; her siblings, Annette Ullo (Jene); Patsy Rister; Claiborne Chauvin, Jr. (Susie); Larry Chauvin (Brenda); and, Warren Chauvin (Cathy); sister-in-law Anne K. Dufrene (Russell); brother-in-law Benton Knobloch, Sr. (Yvonne); brother-in-law Roland Arcement, Jr.; and, a large number of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and her beloved Yorkie, Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roland Knobloch, Jr.; her parents Claiborne Chauvin, Sr. and Wilma Parr Chauvin; her sister Evelyn Arcement; her brother-in-law Bobby Rister; and, her in-laws, Roland Knobloch, Sr. and Gladys Landry Knobloch.

Rosie will be fondly remembered for her deep devotion to God, church, family, country, and community. She enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints, exercising her “physical therapy” at casinos (aka, “playing the slots”), and enjoying her margaritas with family and friends. Affectionally known as “Ma Rosie” by her grandchildren, Rosie took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. Rosie could always be found supporting her children, grandchildren, and other relatives during their marching festivals, concerts, sporting events, dance recitals, and charitable events.

Our sincerest thanks to Falgout Funeral Home, who is in charge of the arrangements; the office of Dr. Michael Marcello; and, the staffs at Cheshire Medical Center and Foley Funeral Home, both of Keene, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (1985 Hwy. 308, Thibodaux, LA 70301).
