Ronald J. Robichaux

Ronald James Robichaux, 79, a native and resident of Raceland, LA, died Sunday, December 13, 2020.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Robichaux and; his children, Dr. Anna Marie Robichaux, Deborah Lynn Robichaux Shirey (Frank), Thomas Ainsworth Robichaux, Candace Grace Robichaux and Colleen Cecilia Robichaux. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Helen R. Blanchard; his brother, Dr. Michael Richard Robichaux; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas Robichaux, Allison Smither, Susan Smither Phillips, Nicholas and Jack Fontenot and Cecilia, Patrick, Landry and Adelea Naccari; and also by Dr. Frances Robichaux, mother of his three oldest children. He died peacefully at home in the company of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Philip Alcide Robichaux and Adelea Catherine Landry Robichaux, and by his brother, Dr. Philip A. Robichaux, Jr.
Ronnie was a graduate of Raceland High School and continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a degree in engineering. His company, Robichaux Construction, designed and built many commercial buildings in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Jefferson Parishes, including significant portions of the structures of Port Fourchon and Grand Isle. He was an engineer for Formosa Plastics in Texas and later served as Director of Public Works for Lafourche Parish.
Ronnie was a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. He served on the Lafourche Parish Recreation Board and was a long time member and board member of the Sugarland Country Club. After retirement, he could be seen most early mornings prepping the golf carts for the day’s use. He was an avid deer hunter, inventor and raconteur, though he traded his gun for a mean napping game later in life. Interment will be at the Robichaux family tomb in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Raceland.
Funeral services will be a private ceremony for his family. Falgout’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
