Ronald T. Matherne

Ronald T. Matherne, 91, a native and resident of Des Allemands, LA, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Paradis, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm with burial to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Des Allemands, LA.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Rodriguez Matherne; daughter, Karen Boyer (Lowell); sons, Thaddeus “Ted” Matherne (Carolyn), Seth Matherne (Christine) and Dirk Matherne (Gay); daughter-in-law, Miriam Matherne; sisters, Miriam Abadie, Opal Dufrene, Berdie Mahan, Fay Aucoin; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Matherne; parents, Dewey and Alverta Dufrene Matherne; brother, Willie Matherne and sisters, Susan Adams and Deborah Tregle.

Ronald was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran; member of the American Legion; former Justice of the Peace and Police Juror. He retired from Monsanto after many years of service. He was very active at St. Gertrude Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, religion teacher and Bible study teacher.

Ronald had a love for gardening, woodworking, praying, traveling, camping and spending time with his family.
