Capt. Ronald "Whitey" Gros

Capt. Ronald J. “Whitey” Gros, 86, a native and resident of Larose, LA, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Larose, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Naquin Gros; sons, Kevin Anthony Gros (Chantise) and Kerry Alexander Gros; grandchildren, Alexander David Gros II, Emily M. Gros Bouzigard (Scotty), Caroline M. Gros and one on the way and sister, Geneva Gros Reed. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Christine F. Gros; parents, Alexander and Bertha Picou Gros; brothers, Lou Allen Gros, Carroll V. Gros and Leroy Gros and sisters, Ethel Gros Gautreaux and Hazel Gros Pitre.
Capt. Ronald was a member of the Captains Club; he was a boat captain from the age of 16 until 2010. He was considered the number one captain in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. His captain friends gave him the name Commodore.
