Roland Paul "Red" Portier, 81, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017.
A private service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eunice Sevin Portier; 2 children, Roland "Lil Red" Portier Jr. (Betty Jane) and Lisa St. Laurent (Brian); 5 grandchildren, Brandon Portier (Rebecca), Travis Portier (Britney), Nicole St. Laurent, Tiffany France (Josh), and Brian St. Laurent Jr.; 7 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Gracie, Karmyn, and Logan Portier, and Kylie, Colin, and Lorelai France; 5 siblings, Daniel (Jane), Otis Jr. (Anita), and Gilbert (Gloria) Portier, Marion Eschete, and Linda Courteaux (Ivy); 5 step-siblings, Robert, Gene, Harry, and Patty Portier, and Cyril Portier Jr.; and brother-in-law, Ronald Bergeron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Portier Sr. and Ruth Bergeron Portier; stepfather, Cyril Portier Sr.; 2 sisters, Estelle Indovina and Kate Bergeron; 2 step-brothers, Larry and Raymond Portier; and 2 brothers-in-law, Oris "Plucky" Eschete and Tony Indovina.
He served for 2 years in the US Army. He loved cooking and making swings and other wood crafts.
