Roland Joseph Martin, Sr., aged 79 years, a native and resident of Chauvin died on the afternoon of August 18, 2012 surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chauvin on Tuesday August 21, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon with interment to follow at St. Elie Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Irene W. Robichaux Martin, daughters, Azalea Poche' and husband Clark, Christine Diek and husband Duane and Linda Martin; sons, Roland Martin Jr. and wife Jeannie, Adrian and Dwayne Martin; step-son, Bryan Robichaux and wife Jan; step-daughter, Nedra Porche and husband Alvin, Nora Mollere and husband Terriel and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Francis, Ruffin, Elias "Gabby", Thomas Martin Jr., and sister, Iona Boquet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Lena Verret Martin; brother, Rueben Martin and sister Marlin Duplantis Neil.
He was retired from the Houma post office as postmaster.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and also a member of American Legion Unit 380.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
