Roger Bourgeois passed peacefully, Friday, April 28, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones after a short battle of pancreatic cancer. He was 79 years old. Roger was the youngest of two sons of Leonie “Darling” Babin Bourgeois and Abel Bourgeois Sr. He and his brother Abel Jr. adored and was guided mostly by their aunt, Clara Babin Pitre, and Malvin Pitre Sr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. Services will begin at 9:00 a.m. for family and friends.
Roger is survived by Carolyn Cunningham Bourgeois and his three Children, Steven Smith (Carrie), Lea Ann Smiley (Bruce), and Terry Antill (Marvin Jr.). Seven grandchildren, Kenneth Smith II, Randi Kuzmicki, Lance Smiley, Taran Smiley, Brett Antill, Donald Erickson, and Rikki Erickson. Thirteen Great Grandchildren, and two Great –Great Grandchildren.
Roger is predeceased by his parents, Abel Bourgeois, Leonie Babin, brother Abel Bourgeois, Jr, and one daughter Jerri Smith.
Roger Graduated from Louisiana State University in 1966 B.S. Degree in Industrial Technology. Roger enlisted in the Airforce in 1967.
In October of 1984, Roger satisfied one of his lifelong dreams and began his own business, Bourgeois & Associates, Inc. to where he met and made many new friends in providing knowledge and recommending proper Fire Protection applications for the Petrochemical facilities throughout South Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico. He stayed busy saving Lives and Property for 37 years. He became famous through-out the industry with his unique calling card giving out the Bourgeois Hot Sauce, start the fire with this and call us, we’ll put the fire out. Most famous as, The Hot Sauce Man!
Roger was a great giver to the community and the industry. He was active in Louisiana State University, Nicholls State University, South Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers, Louisiana Wild Fowl Carvers Guild, Automatic Fire Protection, LA-AFAA, Fire Suppression System Association, NICET, National D Day Museum, Regional Military Museum, Terrebonne Folk Life Culture Center, SCIA, Houma Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce and many more. He was a huge giver with a kind caring heart and will be missed by many.
