Rodney Gypsy Olsen Sr., passed away from natural causes at AMG Hospital in Houma on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
He was 90 years old, and born Jan. 25, 1922 in New Orleans.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Community Bible Church in Cut Off. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at 3 p.m. Saturday in Greenoaks Memorial Park Cemetery in Baton Rouge.
He is survived by his sons, Rodney "Gyp" Olsen Jr. and wife, Betty Olsen, and Lloyd and wife, Cheryl Olsen; daughter, Rodlyn Ruth and husband, Hank Danos; 10 grandchildren, Roxanne Olsen Struppeck and husband, Bobby, Amber Olsen Prigge and husband, Col. Chris Prigge, Laura Olsen, Heather Olsen Marx and husband, Brian, Lloyd "Bubby" Olsen Jr. and wife, Michele, Shane Degruise, Daniel DiStefano, Eric Rodney Danos and wife, Rebecca, Paul Danos and wife, Kara, Mark Danos and wife, Kayce, and Aimee Danos Townsend and husband, Jaye Townsend; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Kane Olsen; and his parents, Thomas Torkel Olsen and Irma Peters Olsen.
He served our country in WWII as a U.S. Air Force Bomber and flight engineer on a B-25 in the Pacific Theater.
His career was with International Harvester Company.
He was a gentleman who walked in integrity.
He will be greatly missed and remembered by his smile and pleasant personality.
Because of God's great love, he is at peace in heaven with those who have gone before him.
