Rodney "Cap" Cortez
December 19, 1936 — January 16, 2021
Rodney “Cap” Cortez, 84, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Des Allemands Mennonite Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Starr Dufrene (Darrel), Greg “Hootie” Cortez (Faith), Marcella Harmon and Terrence “Tee” Cortez (Katina); grandchildren, Je’an, Lacie, Danielle, Courtney, Erin, Triston, Jalin, Gage, Storm, Taylor, Maliry, Marissa and 25 great grandchildren and former wife, Shirley Plaisance.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nora Tregle Cortez; children, Dawn Budzinski and Chad Smith; brothers, Edward “Pedro” Cortez, Albert “Dash” Cortez, Wilmer “Red” Cortez, John Cortez, Marcellus “T-Babe” Cortez, Fred “Peanut” Cortez and Elsa “Red” Cortez; sisters, Bertha Matherne, Carrie Ayo, Juia Bishof, Ethel Horn, Margie St. Amant and Leona Frazier.
Rodney was a U.S, Army Veteran.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
