Rod "T-Rod" Cheramie, born on August 31, 1962, and a resident of Galliano, Louisiana, passed away on January 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was 62 years old.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Doris "Toot" Cheramie; his beloved sister, Rebecca "Becky" Pierce; his beautiful granddaughter, Noelle Pitre; and his dear godchild, Leon Jerstad.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 25 years, Sheri Pitre Cheramie; his four sons: Kobi Pitre (Lauren), Max Cheramie (Kelly), Caz Pitre (Emily), and Brook Cheramie (Melody); and his nine treasured grandchildren: Morgan, Ellie, and Jack Pitre; Maria and Jeaux Cheramie; Amelia and Zac Pitre; and Aria and Landon Cheramie. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Jackie Pitre; his brothers-in-law, Jason Pitre (Brandy) and Brian Pierce; his godmother, Debra "Cricket" Jerstad; his nieces, Chantece Guilbeau, Brittney Orgeron and Hannah Pitre; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, and cousins who brought joy to his life. Rod is also leaving behind close friends whom he loved dearly, and who will miss him greatly.
Rod was a very talented and well-respected diesel mechanic for many years, earning the admiration of his peers and clients. In recent years, he worked with South Lafourche Levee District, where he continued to make a significant impact with his expertise and dedication.
He was a devoted fan of the LSU Tigers, a lover of vintage trucks and fast cars, and a skilled cook who found joy in sharing meals with family and friends. Above all, he adored his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Paw." He loved spending time with family and friends, especially tailgating at LSU games.
Visitation will be held at Community Bible Church on Friday, January 17 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Cheramie Cemetery.
