Robert "Bob" Henry Hassett, Jr., age 93, a native of New Haven, Connecticut and resident of Houma died on January 24, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. with Prayer Service at 11:00 A.M. on January 26th at Falgout Funeral Home with Burial at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 cemetery in Houma.

Bob is survived by one daughter, Maureen Ann Geremia of Wallingford, Connecticut and three grandchildren, Noelle Geremia of Branford CT, Holly Geremia of New York City, NY, and James Geremia of Bridgeport, CT, a great-grandchild. Mr. Hassett is also survived by step-children, C. A Blanchard, III of Baton Rouge, LA, Janet Roberts of Columbus, MS and Mrs. Roger (Patricia) Vick of Ruston, LA and numerous step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in Death by his parents Robert Henry Hassett, Sr. and Mary Joyce Hassett, and wife Leola Fields Hassett.

Bob worked for the Federal Government prior to coming to Houma. He was employed by USDA Soil Conservation Service in Champaign, Illinois, the Veterans Administration in St. Louis, MO, and as an oilfield salesman for COR-Val, Inc. for over 20 years prior to retiring at age 80.

Serving in the United States 8th Air Force, 34th Bomb Group, 4th Bomb Squadron, in England, Bob was a left waist gunner on a B-17G Bomber and he and his lead crew flew 30 missions while participating in our victory during WWII. Twenty-eight of those missions were to Germany, one for the Holland Invasion, and one to Czechoslovakia. He earned an ETO with 5 battle stars.

Bob was blessed with many friends that cared for him and was especially grateful to Jeanne Hodson, Joyce Authement, and Bobby "Bubba" Corte, Jr., for their friendships.
