Rita Dufrene Matherne

Rita Dufrene Matherne, 79, a native of Bayou Gauche, LA and a resident of Larose, LA, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. Religious services will be at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the Mennonite Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Keith Matherne, Sr., Kerry Matherne (Tika); daughters, Karen Fedrick (Dee), Patricia Matherne, Carla Matherne, Claire Doucet (Garret), Jill Esponge (Dean) and Kate Loupe; brother, Tarvin Dufrene, Sr.; sister, Jane Dufrene; 19 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Jerry Matherne; son, Kevin Matherne; daughter-in-law, Michele Matherne; granddaughter, Dessee Lichenstein, step grandson, Gary Dean Esponge; parents, Irvin Dufrene and Julienne Dufrene Matherne and brother, Clyde Dufrene, Sr.
