Rickey T. Cheramie, a native of Cut Off and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the age of 62.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Golden Meadow Park Pavilion starting at 1:00 pm.
He is survived by his sons, Rickey J. Cheramie and wife Lacie, Nicholas Cheramie and wife Ashley, Mark Cheramie and fiancé Hannah; 7 grandchildren, Mayce Thibodeaux, Brady Collins, Nicky Cheramie, Chloé Cheramie, Kaden Cheramie, Kasen Cheramie, Avary Cheramie; brother, Louis Cheramie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Mildred Cheramie; sister, Joanne Cheramie; granddaughter, Kayle Cheramie and niece, Nicole G. Landry.
Rickey was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a family man who had a passion to keep the cajun heritage ongoing, if it was as small as speaking cajun french to other people or his role in helping prevent coastal erosion. Rickey was the President of the South Lafourche Beachfront Commission. He had 3 U.S. patents, one of which was to help prevent coastal erosion and was awarded a federal grant to help demonstrate his patents. He will be miss by all who knew him.
