Rene P. LeBlanc Sr., 81, a native and resident of Larose, passed away at 7:34 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, in Cut Off. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Malm LeBlanc; sons, Kenneth LeBlanc and wife, Bonnie, and Rene "Boogie" LeBlanc Jr. and wife, Susan; daughters, Karen Pourbabaee and husband, Hassan, Connie Chiasson and husband, Ronald, and Adrienne Guidry and husband, James Jr.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene and Avialas Rodriguez LeBlanc; brother, Wade LeBlanc; and sisters, Daisy Fanguy, Gladys Sampey, Mildred Allemand, Wildred Robichaux and Rowena Claudet.
He was a founding member and board member of the Larose Civic Center and served in the U.S, Army for 2 years.
He was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was an educator, basketball coach, principal and school board supervisor for the Lafourche Parish School System.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. Seventh Floor, N.Y., N.Y. 10001.
