Renè Ambroise Champagne, native of Luling, passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2024, at the age of 97. He was the loving husband to Mae Aucoin Champagne of 70 years. He was the son of the late Ambroise Champagne and the late Bertha Boudreaux, of Luling. The brother of the late Lorraine Tassin Keller, the late Yvonne Champagne McCord and the late Bertha “B” Champagne Firmin. He is survived by children, Regina Champagne Labat (Ray), Renè “Rennie” J. Champagne (Terry), and Gay Champagne Prindle (Kenneth “Rody”). He is survived by grandchildren, Ray Labat III (Ashley), Renè Labat (Kourtney), Ramsey Renè Champagne (Mindi), Ryan Champagne (Ellie), Tayler Prindle Niggemann (Daniel), Jonathan Prindle (Kristen), and Sean Prindle. Also, eight great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. A host of nieces and nephews. Renè served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and was a very proud veteran. Renè was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409, the American Legion Post 131, and the VFW. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 234 Angus Drive, Luling, LA, Wednesday March 6th. Visitation will be from 9:00am until funeral mass at 11:00am. Interment will follow in St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling, LA.
