Peggy Sue Chighizola, 52, a native and resident of Grand Isle, LA unexpectedly expired while amongst her most cherished friends and began her journey to be with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2015 while on an excursion to Honduras.
She is survived by her most honored loving parents, Emma and Perry Chighizola; siblings, P.J. (Leighton) and John (Claire) Chighizola, Aunt, Vera Chighizola; Uncles, "Tookie" (Diana) and "Shorty" (Julia) Cheramie; and an array of appreciated nieces and nephews ("HER kids") along with the multitude of other equally, fondly loved, close family members and friends she cherished so.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Webb and Margie Cheramie, Hansell and Mazie Chighizola, and Joe and Pearl LaFont.
Peggy was a graduate of Grand Isle High, member of the local Fire Department, and served as the private secretary for the Chief-of-Police for the past 28 years in the upmost diligent, dependable, and respectful manner, as well as the Mayor's court recorder. Respecter of others' feelings, a procrastinator at heart, humorous jokester, moody party-goer (most times long-lasting), Peggy will be immensely and sadly missed by all but the feeling remains where she would want everyone just to "keep on smiling!"
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the church services at Our Lady of the Isle Church on Grand Isle where Peggy was a parishioner on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1 PM. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time with interment to immediately follow the funeral mass at Cheramie cemetery mausoleum in Galliano.
Her "Facebook chapter" has ended but the family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at
