Patricia Marie Giroir Labat

January 7, 1933 — February 16, 2025

Raceland

Patricia Marie Giroir Labat 92 of Raceland, Louisiana passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025 in Napoleonville, Louisiana. She was born in Utopia, on the Raceland Sugar Plantation, January 7, 1933 to the late Sidney Joseph Giroir, Sr. and Marie Alice Sommers Giroir.

Pat spent her entire life excelling as a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family is her legacy and life’s work, and nothing made her happier than spending time with her very very large family, and of course feeding them! She was also a voracious reader. She read multiple books a week, and likely read every single book in the Raceland Library to the point that the librarians would let her know when they received any new books on her weekly trip there. Pat was always incredibly confident, bold, self-assured, and a little defiant and feisty at times until her latter years slowly stole that part of her personality. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland, and that was also a very important part of her life.

Pat is survived by her 7 children, Stanley, Jr. (Nola) Labat, Stephanie (David) Chiasson, Ann (Donald) Daigle, Steven (Debbie) Labat, Susan (Joe) Booth, Andrew (Angela) Labat & Aaron (Farol) Labat.

Her 17 Grandchildren include Tarin, Mathew, James, Chelsea, Garrett, Jae and Casey Labat, Sheree Griffin, Jessica Templeton, Jared Chiasson, Candace Tracy, Justin Daigle, Jene’a Hastings, Kaitlyn Longino, Caitlyn Stewart, Skyler Thornton & Reed Vascocu.

Her 23 Great Grandchildren include Hunter & Jess Brooks, Brady & Luke Griffin, Alexis & Levi Lopez, Berkliee, Kasen Paul & Eli Longino, Roland & William Tracy, Emrie & Hank Daigle, Emersyn, Evelyn, Mikey & Luke Labat, Hadley & Rhodes Hastings, Audrie Stewart, Ruston, Rhett & River Vascocu.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jan Giroir.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 loving years Stanley Labat, Sr., her parents, her two brothers Sidney Jr. & Donald Giroir, and her sister-in-law Donna Giroir.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 am with internment following at St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery in Raceland.
