Orby "Dean" Sasser, 79, a native of Laurel, Miss., and resident of Houma, died Sunday, April 20, 2014.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Ellisville Cemetery in Jones County, Miss.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley A. Sasser; son, Richard D. Sasser and wife, Robin Fanguy Sasser; daughter, Wanda "Lynn" Richard; grandchildren, Phillip Richard and wife, Nicole, Patricia Richard, Jenifer Cheramie and husband, Travis, Mallory Dupre and husband, Chase, Haden Sasser, and Davy Sasser; and great-grandchildren, Nathalie Tardiff, Nicholas Sasser, Benjamin Sasser, Austyn Richard, Breanna Cheramie, Dominic Richard, Masyn Tardiff, Chandler Cheramie, Alex Cheramie, Kenneth Cheramie, and Issac Dupre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis Dewey Sasser and Bessie Bankston Sasser Odom; daughter, Susan M. Sasser; brothers, Herman, Roland, and Ray Sasser; and sisters, Margie Porter, and Lavada Rushton.
Falgout Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements
