Norma “Pookie” Breaux Duplantis, 84, a lifelong native and resident of Houma, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. She loved to cook and have family gatherings as well as going to the casinos.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Thaddeus “Bud” J. Duplantis, sons, Danny Duplantis (Rissa), Kirk Duplantis, daughters, Darlene D. Davis, Peggy D. Leonard, Lisa D. Ellender (Mike), 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brothers, Ernest Breaux, Henry Breaux (Judy), sisters, Mary Lee B. Rhodes, Gail B. Dardar (Jerry) and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Adrina Klingman Breaux, brothers, Charles Breaux, Jules Breaux, David Breaux, Phillip Breaux, sisters, Genevieve B. Portier, Adrina B. Leonard, Rose B. Pinell, son-in-law, James Kent Davis, daughter-in-law, Laura Donaldson Duplantis and granddaughter, Sherry Eunice.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery II. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made in memory of Norma to St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church or School.
