Nolan "Pete" Madere

Nolan Charles "Pete" Madere, 87, a native of Hahnville and resident of Luling passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017.

Visitation will be held at West St. Charles Baptist Church in Boutte on Tuesday, October 3rd from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.

Pete is survived by his wife, Essie Nelson Madere; sons, Michael Madere and James (Tracie Ingram) Madere; daughter, Susan Madere (Jeffery) Aubert; grandchild, Amy (Douglas) Lewandowski; great-grandchild, Sydney Lewandowski.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Emile, Sr. and Rena Kinler Madere; siblings, Evelyn Hart, Harold Madere, Fred Madere, Robert Madere, Emile Madere, Jr., Leona Walker and Edward Madere; daughter-in-law, Connie Youngs Madere.

Pete worked as a rough neck for Shell Offshore, motor mechanic/Welder for Kaiser/Laroche Grammercy, mosquito control for St. Charles Parish and as a subpoena server for St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office.

Pete joined the Army at 17 years old in 1947 and became a medic. He re-enlisted in 1950 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY where he became a paratrooper assigned to the 187th Airborne regimental combat team "RAKKASANS". He fought in the Korean War making 2 combat jumps north of the 38th parallel – Sunchon and Munson Ni.
