Dr. Nicholas Antoine Plaisance

 Dr. Nicholas Antoine Plaisance, 74, native of Cut Off, passed away on Friday, November 29th, 2024. 

Dr. Nicholas is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cleta Fortier Plaisance; his children, Andre (Lori) Plaisance, Angelique Plaisance, and Jeannine Plaisance Barth; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Barth, and Lillian Plaisance. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Louise Plaisance, and brother, Gordon Plaisance. 

Dr. Nicholas was a lifetime citizen of Lafourche Parish where he attended Cut Off Elementary, Larose Cut Off Junior High and South Lafourche High School class of 1968. He continued his education at Nicholls State University, graduating in 1972. He was accepted into Louisiana State University Dental School where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He was a member of C. Edmund Kells Honor Society and was accepted to continue his studies in Orthodontics. He completed his board certification in Orthodontics in 1978. He served the South Lafourche community practicing Orthodontics for over 38 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Nicky was an avid outdoorsman who loved Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise, hunting and fishing throughout his life. He was part of numerous organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, and the Krewe of Hermes, as well as serving on the school board of Holy Rosary Catholic School in Larose, LA. 

Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, Louisiana on Friday, December 6th, 2024, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00pm with interment following in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School in Larose, LA, a school that is very important to the Plaisance family.
