Nathan Francis Arceneaux, 89, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. He was a native and resident of Larose, LA.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. with burial following in church cemetery.
Nathan is survived by his son, Thomas Arceneaux and wife, Mary; daughters, Sandra A. Foret and husband, Toby, and Anita A. Guidry and husband, Wade; brother, Bennett Arceneaux and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Amy Danos, Annie Terrebonne, Alicia Rebstock, Gary Guidry, Chas Guidry, Lyndsey Stanfield, Erica Ezell, Rusty Guidry and Tyler Guidry; and great-grandchildren, Max Landry, Makalia Torres, Gabriel Terrebonne, Peyton Rebstock, Rosie Rebstock, Kai Stanfield, Kash Stanfield, Aria Ezell, Catherine Guidry, Lucy Guidry, and Bradley Guidry.
Nathan was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Danos Arceneaux; parents, Noless Joseph Arceneaux Sr. and Bertha Barrios Arceneaux; brothers, Noless Jr., Gilbert, Elton Sr., Louie and Harold Arceneaux; and great-grandchild, Jacob Guidry.
Nathan was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since April 1974. He served in Council 3150 of Cut Off, where he held the following titles and positions: Chief Counselor for Squires Circle (1975-1977); Grand Knight of Council 3150 (1977-1979); District Deputy (1980-1982); CYO-Scouting Chairman (1982-1984); and State Council Activity Director and Aide to the State Deputy (1984-1986). As the State Council Activity Director and Aide to the State Deputy, he was instrumental in forming Council 8898 in Larose. During his last few years at Council 3150, he was the Financial Secretary. When Council 8898 in Larose was formed, he transferred to the new Council. While serving as the Financial Secretary, Nathan was the Elected Supreme Delegate Representing Louisiana at the Chicago Supreme Convention. Nathan held the following titles and positions in Council 8898 in Larose: Fraternal Life Chair Couple (1990-1991); Grand Knight for Council 8898 in Larose (1996-1998); Faithful Comptroller; Faithful Navigator of 4th Degree (2015-2017); Commander of order of Fleur Dis Lis. Nathan was an active member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church. He sat on Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church’s Parish Council. During his time on the Council, he served as president and vice-president. He served as Commentator, Lector, an Extra-Ordinary Eucharistic Minister, and active member of Arimathean Society. Nathan was an active member of the St. Vicente De Paul Conference in Larose for the past six years. He served on the board where he was elected president and sat on the St. Vicente De Paul Thrift Store in Houma. He was also elected as a Board member of Catholic Community of South Lafourche. Over fifty years ago Nathan joined the Bayou Civic Club to create a community center for the Larose area. He volunteered to help this idea of a community center become a reality. He volunteered at the first French Food Festival held at Larose Cut Off Jr. High School and continued volunteering at the Larose Civic Center when he was not busy with traveling or church-related activities. He served as French Food Festival Grand Marshal XLIV. Nathan enjoyed spending his time with his family. He had a quirky sense of humor and loved seeing everyone happy. His commitment to God and his family was a testament to the man he was. He passed peacefully surrounded by family.
