Myrtle Ford Tastet, a native and resident of Des Allemands passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Broadway Elder Living Center in Lockport, LA at the age of 93.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, LA.
She is survived by her children, Judy Schouest (Dave), Barbara Matherne, Linda Brien, Roland Tastet, Jr. (Janis), Terry Tastet (Sandra); siblings, Bill Ford, Marion Blanchard, Catherine Fonseca, Richard Ford; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Tastet, Sr.; children, Marty and Diane Tastet; sons-in-law, David Matherne and E.B. Brien; siblings, William, James, Earl, Patrick, Paul, Douglas Ford, Ada Cologne and Mary Ann Vanacor.
Myrtle was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church and a past member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Her greatest joy was just spending time with her family, having large dinners together especially holiday meals, and she was always ready for road trips. She will be remembered for being humble and kind to everyone. Loving gratitude goes to the staff of the Broadway and St. Catherine's Hospice for the extraordinary attention and caring in Myrtle's last days.
In lieu of flowers, masses would be preferred.
