Murphy P. Pitre, 85, a native and resident of Raceland, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Visitation will be from 8:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela D. Pitre; son, Michael P. Pitre (Becky); daughters, Janet P. Hebert (Keith), Connie P. Bourgeois (Dwayne), Samantha M. Allemand (Cedric), Sabrina M. Lassere, Nicole A. Martin; daughter-in-law, Sherri Pitre; brothers, Hilton J. “Boy” Pitre, Ray A. Pitre; sister, Peggy P. Boudreaux; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 favorite nieces who know who they are.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Edla Babin Pitre; sons, David A. Pitre and Edward C. Pitre; granddaughter, Megan Hoak and sister, Jeanelle P. Griffin.
Murphy retired from Chevron and was the owner of Aqua Resources and M.P. Bookkeeping. He was a Korean War Veteran who was an active member of American Legion Post 349 for 65 years, where he served as the Finance Officer. He was also a member of Raceland Grand Marshall Club, Raceland Lion’s Club, Crippled Children Society and United Veterans League.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Raceland American Legion Post 349.
