Monna Penney Johnson

Monna Jean Penney Johnson, 88, a native of Palestine, Texas and resident of Houma, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. A private graveside service will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray, Louisiana.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie Johnson Michel and Stephanie Johnson Chapman (James III); grandchildren, Andrae Michel Hebert (Rory), Brandon Michel (Jovanny), Bryce Michel, James Chapman IV, and Rachel Chapman; and great grandchildren, Kate Hebert, William Hebert, Jack Hebert, and Layla Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Vera Faye Penney; sister, Novelyn Penney Blanchard, and son in law, Steve P. Michel.
Monna had a deep, abiding faith in the Lord. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, and cooking. Her love of reading was one she passed along to her children and grandchildren. Her joyous and cheerful disposition will be fondly remembered by all who met her.
