Moise Louis Martin, 91, a native and resident of Raceland, died Monday May 21, 2012 at West Jefferson Hospital.
He chose to donate his body to Tulane University Medical School. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Farwell Martin; two sons, Dwight Paul Martin and David James Martin; a daughter, Dawn Martin Davis; two sisters, Vernice Martin Hebert and Nazie Martin Guidry; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Wade Guidry and Peter Falgout; and five sisters-in-law, Anna, Ruth, and Frances Martin, Audrey Falgout and Marie Arabie.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Falgout Martin; his parents, Maurice Joseph Martin and Odelia Foret Martin; four brothers, Joseph M., Hypolite C., Philip V. and Eddie P. Martin; and a son-in-law, David L. Davis.
He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church, a U.S. Army World War II combat veteran, a life member and past commander of V.F.W. post 3665 and life member of American Legion post 349. He also served for many years as president of Sugar Workers Local Union 1474 and on the Board of Commissioners of the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District.
