Mitch J. Matherne

Mitch J. Matherne, 61, a native and resident of Cut Off passed on Saturday, February 10th, 2024.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano on Friday, February 16th, 2024 from 8:00 am until services. A Parlor Service will begin at 11:00 am.

Mr. Mitch is survived by his wife: Judy “Jujie” Danos; step children: Faith and Jacob (Michelle); and step grandchildren: Jailyn and Jathan LeBlanc, Jackson Callais, and Caleb Dunn.

Mr. Matherne was preceded in death by his parents: Nelson and Rita Matherne.

Mitch played music with numerous bands during his life; most recently the Benjamin Bruce and Acadians and the Roger Dowdy Band. He was recently nominated for the Cajun Music Hall of Fame, an accomplished duck carver, enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, and farmed soft shell crabs. He loved people, his family, never met a stranger and adored his step children.
