Merlin J. Schaubhut Sr., 95, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 in Des Allemands.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time today at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today at the church, with burial in St. Gertrude Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Matherne Schaubhut; children, Merlin J. Schaubhut Jr. and wife, Joyce C., Linda Schaubhut Cunningham and husband, Eugene A., and Karen Schaubhut Loupe and husband, Steven J.; siblings, Arthur Jr. and John Schaubhut, and Lillian Dufrene; and seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Schaubhut Sr. and Rose C. Schaubhut; one grandchild and one great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Eywyn Schaubhut, Vivian Rogers and Rita Matherne.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
