Melvin A. Bernard, 80, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, died at 6:17 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Breaux Bernard; two sons, Troy and Todd Bernard; two brothers, Louis and Douglas Bernard; two sisters, Thelma Leonard and Mary Ann Pierce; and three grandchildren, Ian, Ryan, and Tiffany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Pauline W. Bernard; daughter-in-law, Julie Bernard; and five brothers, Dudley, Norris, Stanley, Charlie, and Bill Bernard.
He was a member of American Legion Post 259, Knights of Columbus Council 9000, and Alderman for Golden Meadow for 20 years.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
