McNeely "Mac" Joseph Rome, 90, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Donaldsonville, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2011.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Rosemary Bourg Rome; sons, Robert G. Rome and wife, Joan, of Mathews and McNeely J. Rome Jr. and wife, CeCe, of Golden Meadow; grandchildren, Dr. Alison Rome, Robert Rome and wife, Ann, Dr. Courtney Rome, Lindsey Rome and Jessica Rome; great-grandchildren, Gianna and Cooper Joseph Rome; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Lula Mae Terrebonne Rome; parents, Joseph M. Rome Sr. and Lucille Dellate Rome; brothers, Earl, Ervin, and Harold Bruce; and sister, Enola Broussette.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, a eucharistic minister, World War II Navy veteran, a member of KC Council 9000 of Golden Meadow, a 4th Degree Knight and a member of American Legion Post 259. He was a 40 year employee of Texaco in Leeville and Golden Meadow Fields. He was an outspoken member of the community and a regular contributor to Rose's morning round table discussion group.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KC Bishop Greco Memorial Fund C/O KC Council of Golden Meadow.
