Mauricette Guichard Ellender went peacefully in her sleep to our Lord on December 30, 2017 at the age of 89.
Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, January 4 at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma and from 9:30 AM until service time on Friday, January 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday at Holy Rosary with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her son Erich M. Duplantis and wife Faye, 4 Grandchildren, Tracy (Stan) Smith of Missouri, Erich Jr. (her favorite Grandson), Jayme (Derek Foret) Duplantis, and Kristy (Nick) Theriot of Houma. 6 Great Grandchildren, Christopher (Ariel Lajaunie) Smith and Colton (Victoria Duplantis) Smith, Brice and Jadyn Solet and Kallee and Emmee Theriot, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, Claire and Violet Smith and Adylynn, Abigail and Alexander Smith.
She is also survived by her family living in France whom she loved dearly, her sister Janine Badufle, her nephew Freddy (Viviane) Badufle, and her Great-Nephews Frederic, Xavier and Alexander Badufle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Emilienne Guichard, her twin sister Arlette Guichard, her nephew Jose Badufle her brother in law Robert Badufle, her Great Granddaughter Jadyn Solet, her first husband Lindsey Duplantis and her second husband Carl Ellender Jr.
She had many dear friends she loved dearly, Evelyne Dungan, John and Bertha Smith, Bobby and Diane Champagne, Wayne and Karen Blanchard, Mrs. Harold Pitre and Gwen Billiot, just to name a few.
Mauricette was a World War II bride, she came to the United States at the age of 18 and married her first husband, Lindsey Duplantis and they had one son, Erich whom she loved with all her heart.
Mauricette lived life with passion and zest, she lived life on her terms, she enjoyed meeting people and always welcomed anyone to her home where she always offered drink or food. She loved the Saints and in the past she and her close friends would have Saints parties, she loved to party and always did it in style.
Mauricette maintained many of her French customs and traditions and tried to instill them into her Grandchildren. She loved taking pictures with her family and many a toast of champagne to highlight events. She was an excellent cook and exposed many people to appreciate French cooking. She maintained her French accent to the end.
One of her family's greatest memory will be for Christmas day, she set a beautiful table and cooked and served a great meal. For dessert she had made her Bouche de Noel which was her tradition from France that she brought to her family and her family loved it.
Mauricette will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
