Mathilde Eymard Savoie, 97, a lifelong native and resident of Galliano, was called to meet her maker on Dec. 26, 2012.
Visitation was held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary in Larose. A Mass of Christian burial commenced at 11 a.m. at the church, and burial followed in Holy Rosary cemetery.
Mathilde E. Savoie is survived by her daughter, Helen S. Cheramie and her husband Larbow and son Ted Savoie and his wife Jane; grandchildren, Matt Cheramie (Celia), Rachel C. Orgeron (Nathan), Sandy C. Cantrelle (Kerry), Sonya S. Buccola (Larry), Simonne S. Golden (John), Sidney Savoie (Ann) and Stephanie S. Hopkins (David Sr.); great-grandchildren, Andria Cheramie, Brandon Cheramie, Mitch Orgeron (Samantha), Amy Orgeron, Heather Cantrelle, Paul Cantrelle, Andy Golden, Janie Golden, Marie Golden, Mia Hopkins and David Hopkins Jr.; and one great-greatgranddaughter, Catherine Orgeron.
Mathilde was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Sidney V. Savoie; her parents, Duard and Vena Pitre Eymard; brothers, Emile T. Eymard and Louis "Beto" Eymard; and sisters, Arcide Doucet and Romanda Guidry.
Mathilde loved to have family dinners and enjoyed having a garden and fruit trees so she could have something to give to others. She will be missed by many.
