Ruth Rita Burkhardt Breaux Matherne, 83, a native of New Orleans and resident of Vacherie, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011.
Visiation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Religious services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Breaux and Shirley Matherne; one brother, Melvin Burkhardt; nine grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merrill Breaux; her second husband, Joseph Matherne; her parents, Henry and Amelia B. Burkhardt; one daughter, Sheila Burgess; one brother, Henry C. Burkhardt; two sisters, Dorothy and Henrietta Burkhardt; and one great-grandchild.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
