From a young age Mason had an incredibly strong relationship with Jesus. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was an active member in his church. Mason participated in youth group and led monthly bible lessons for the youngest members of the Life Fellowship Community Church. He readily shared his faith in the Lord with others — his classmates at J.B. Martin, his teammates on the football field and basketball court, and his family and friends in all the moments in between. Perhaps his close, personal relationship with the Lord was best highlighted by the moments shortly after his accident, when, in the midst of the pain and fear he was likely experiencing, he asked his mom to please pray over him. Second only to God, this boy loved football! He could effortlessly rattle off obscure statistics about the entire roster of the New Orleans Saints like he could quote his favorite Bible verse (Jeremiah 17:7-8). With clarity that is not typical for someone this age, Mason aspired to use his platform as a future NFL Hall of Famer to preach in the name of Jesus. Mason was a sweet and loving boy who had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and loved. He never met a stranger and would talk your ear off given the chance. We will miss him terribly but we trust in the Lord that we will see him again. Forever 14! Fly High Mason!
