Marietta "Retta" Hargis Adams, 81, a native of Lockport and a resident of Raceland, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, LA.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vincent Adams; daughter, Michelle Adams Gauthreaux (Scott); grandchildren, Gabrielle Gauthreaux, Emily Gauthreaux and sister Elizabeth Betty Love Hargis Folse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonze Sr. and Beatrice Foret Hargis; brothers, Alonzo Jr., Warren George, Wilfred, Rudolph Sr., Ralph, Kenneth Hargis; sisters, Marguerite Hargis Knight, Elaine Hargis Hillman and Beatrice Hargis Punch.
Mariette was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone. She never met a stranger. We wish to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. We are grateful for the doctors and nurses for their compassion and loving care. We would also like to thank the Staff of The Broadway Elder Living and Rehab and Notre Dame Hospice staff for their care, love and support.
